The Guild of St Joseph and St Dominic in Ditchling

Eric Gill 1882-1940 may be described as perhaps the greatest English artist-craftsman of the twentieth century, a typographer and letter cutter of genius and a master in the art of sculpture and wood-engraving

In 1920 Gill and Hillary Pepler were founder members with Desmond Chute, of a Catholic community of craftsmen at Ditchling, Sussex, that took the name The Guild of St Joseph and St Dominic.
